Well, I'm finally trying to catch up. Summer's been crazy...I think we've been away for more days than we've been home - seriously!
The kids and I spent most of July in Alabama. Scott was able to pop in and out, but spent the rest of his time funding our little excursion (sadly, he had to work). We had a great time catching up with family. The kids loved spending time in "the country". They rode (and drove) four-wheelers, tractors and old pickup trucks. Katherine walked down "yellow" roads, apparently the Jersey girl term for "dirt road". Dylan worked really hard on her southern accent, and mastered it quite well, thank y'all very much. Isaac took pleasure in the freedom of just being able to go. He wandered around by himself and found all sorts of things to get into - most of them involving a barn, a john deere gator, a truck, or a dirt pile. And, in between ear infections (gotta love that $100 emergency room co-pay), we swam.
Then, before we were home a full week, we were off again. This time to Vermont. We spent some time on Lake Champlain in Burlington and fell in love with the beauty of the area. We also sampled our fair share of cheese, maple syrup, and maple candy. The girls spent 2 days away at a camp and had a blast. Isaac enjoyed having our undivided attention, but was also glad when he got to see his "gulls" again.
Call us crazy, but we head out again on Thursday! We're going to spend a few days on Chesapeake Bay in Maryland to celebrate 20 - yes, that would be twenty, as in t-w-e-n-t-y years of marriage!! Hard to believe.
I'll post some summer pictures later. And I apologize in advance if you are one of my BELOVED family members who may not be represented. I have a new camera, and about half the time I had it on the wrong setting. I have a lot of strangely blurred images that look like they were taken underwater. I'm not the most technically savvy individual, but that's where the kids actually come in handy. Gotta love 'em!
